North Macedonia (Macedonian: Северна Македонија, translit. Severna Makedonija), officially the Republic of North Macedonia The Republic of North Macedonia is a landlocked in Mediterranean Europe.

The country became a member of the United Nations in 1993, but, as a result of a dispute with Greece over the use of the name Macedonia, it was admitted under the provisional description the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (abbreviated as FYROM and FYR Macedonia), a term that has also been used by several other international organizations. In June 2018, Macedonia and Greece signed the Prespa Agreement, which stipulates that the country must change its name to Republic of North Macedonia erga omnes. This renaming entered into force on 12 February 2019.
